Karen and her husband Chris became members of South Tulsa Baptist Church on July 12, 1987. Within months they began work in the youth group teaching Sunday School and staying involved as sponsors for youth activities. Prior to becoming the Youth Associate in the Spring of 2006, Karen raised two sons, taught High School, Managed a retail floor coverings business and helped Chris run their Landscape Design and Construction Company, not all at the same time.
Karen graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a Bachelor of Art Education.
Karen and Chris met as children when their families were members of the same Baptist Church in Tulsa. They remained friends growing up and started dating in college. They have been married 26 years and have two sons now in college. As a family they love to spend time together, often traveling and doing mission work together.
Karen and Chris together share a common verse that sums up how they feel they are to serve God. In Daniel chapter 3, verses 17 and 18, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego responded to King Nebuchadnezzar “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
Karen is zealous about helping youth develop their relationship with Christ. She loves spending time with kids and seeing them grow in their spiritual understanding. She also has a huge heart for missions.
