Raised in Broken Arrow, she graduated from Broken Arrow High School. Early college years were spent at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She earned her Elementary Education degree from Oklahoma State University. Debbie taught school for Union Public Schools for fifteen years. Jeff did his undergraduate work at OSU and both boys and daughter-in-laws are graduates of Oklahoma State University. Debbie and her family are loyal Cowboy fans.
Debbie accepted Jesus as her savior in October 1974 at Bible Baptist Church, Broken Arrow. As a senior in high school she started teaching mission friends on Wednesday nights. Her life verse is, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not unto your own understanding; acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3: 5-6
Other than teaching, Debbie enjoys reading, bicycling, playing with grand-dogs and just spending time with family and friends. Her back porch is her “Chetola”, Cherokee for “haven of rest”. The gate is always open. Come sit a while.
