Can I meet the Pastor & Staff?

Yes! Our staff team would love to meet you! We are all available in the Commons after worship every Sunday morning to personally greet our guests and they ask that you take a moment to stop and say hello. If you would like a more in-depth visit with our staff, please call the church office to set up a time for a personal visit or phone call. The church office is available Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM at 918-299-0904.

What do I wear?

No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at South Tulsa Baptist Church. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you, no matter when you visit. Sunday mornings are a time when many prefer to dress up a bit, but even if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home with us. Sunday and Wednesday evenings are slightly more casual than Sunday morning, but dress up for these if you prefer.

Preschoolers and children learn while they play. We encourage hands-on play so that children are learning through all their senses. Painting and other “messy” activities are also encouraged, so use your own judgment about how dressed up your child is while at church.

Our Middle and High School students usually dress casually on Sunday and Wednesday evenings because games and sporting events are often held outside and sometimes involve getting messy.

What are worship services like?

Our Worship Service led by our Praise Band is  at 8:30 in our Worship Center with Praise and Worship choruses and is an exciting way to start your Sunday mornings. Eric Costanzo, our new Senior Pastor, shares the same message as in the 10:50 service with worship assistance through slides and or videos. Our 10:50 Worship service in our Worship Center and is led by our Choir and Orchestra with a blended form of enlightening music.

What do I need to bring?

Many members and guests find that it’s easier and more fulfilling to participate in Bible study when they have their own copy of the Bible with them during worship so that they can underline or highlight particular verses for later study. During worship key Bible verses will be displayed on the overhead screen for those who do not have a Bible with them and for those who carry a different translation. If you prefer to take simple notes, an outline of each Sunday morning’s Bible study is provided. For other Bible study times, you may prefer to bring a notepad and pen or pencil for taking notes. A children’s bulletin is also provided weekly so that they might follow along.

How do I become a member?

You may become a member in one of the following ways:
Baptism – a testimony that you have received Christ as Savior and Lord
Transfer of Church Membership – from another Baptist church
Statement of Faith in Christ -and previous baptism by immersion

You may express your desire to become a church member by going forward at the conclusion of our service and sharing your decision with our Pastor or staff, or by scheduling an appointment to meet with one of our ministers. You will be invited to our Discovery Class which is held quarterly to understand our church, its beliefs, and to determine where you can serve. Each quarter in addition to the Discovery Class, our church has a quarterly business conference where we vote on all decisions made in the previous quarter.

Message to Newcomers

You may have questions – we have some answers!

  • “When do I join or make some other commitment to Christ?” At the close of every worship service as a hymn is sung and the ministers stand facing the congregation, walk to one of them at this time. Tell him you want to join the church or make a decision for Christ.
  • “What’s next?” You will be seated at the front, and the minister will introduce you to a facilitator. The facilitator will ask your name, address, etc. You will then share with the facilitator your decision. The facilitator is trained to help individuals understand their decisions, and this will be done in a counseling area after you have been presented by one of our ministers as a new member to the church family. We will share with you a new member bag and mail you a name tag. We will next invite you to a Discovery Class to beter understand our church, its beliefs, and where you can serve.
  • “What about my children?” When a child is ready to make a commitment to Christ they may come forward during the invitation. Our trained workers will deal sensitively with the child.

Where do my kids go?

When you know your children are in a loving and safe environment you can relax, allowing you to focus on worship and Bible study.

Preschoolers are actively engaged in play while learning about God’s love for them. Boys and girls, infants through kindergarten newcomers, are greeted by Debbie Steen, our Preschool Minister at the Preschool Reception Desk for each event and are directed to a developmentally and age appropriate department located in our secure Preschool area.

All children in grades 1-6 attend classes on the second floor of the Worship Center. The Children’s Minister, Connie Faurot, or one her assistants will assist you and your children in finding your way to the appropriate class. Children are divided by grade, but periodically combine for special events on Sunday mornings.

Middle and High School students are greeted by their friends in the Youth Area on the second floor. Stop by, play a game of ping pong, and then throw your hands up in the air while the youth praise band leads the way in worship. God is alive and at work in the youth of South Tulsa Baptist Church. Come make a friend, meet the Savior and walk away with a new heart and a changed life.

Where do I go?

On Sunday morning, we would love to greet you at our Welcome Center through the doors under the Bell Tower on the northeast side of our facilities in our  Worship Center Commons. Our welcome team will greet you and direct your family to the respective locations.
